Released in 1996, the movie went to to become biggest hit of the year. Raja Hindustani made Karisma Kapoor the most successful actress of the year.

Raja Hindustani is a movie with very little violance and great music. Karisma surprises the crowd with a
splendid performance.

The story follows the age old theme of poor boy rich girl relationship. Aamir Khan plays poor village boy while Karisma Kapoor is a rich daughter of industrialist Suresh Oberoi. Arti (Karisma) comes to a small hill station called Palan Khet and falls in love with the taxi driver Raja (Amir Khan). After some romancing they get married. The drama starts after the marriage as Arti's step mother and her brother try to split them apart. All ends well in the end.

Amir has played his role well and look impressive. Karisma surprises the crowd with a splendid performance. Johnny Lever has a short yet hilarious role as Raja's friend.

Songs the sung by Kumar Sanu, Spana Awasthi, Alka Yagnik, Suresh Wadkar, and Udit Narayan. Pardesi Pardesi was a chartbuster. Pardesi Jana Nahin is also a good song. Lyrics has been provided by Sameer.
